NAME OF THE SOCIETY
The Bell at Willersey Golf Society

OBJECTIVES OF THE SOCIETY
• To promote the game of golf to all prospective members
• To enjoy friendly, but competitive golf throughout the year as well as any social   events organised.

ORGANISING COMMITTEE
• The organising committee will comprise of: Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer,   Secretary, Fixtures Secretary, Newsletter Editor, 3 Ex Officio Officers.
• The committee is responsible for all aspects of the Society.
• Elections for all committee officers take place each year at the Annual General   meeting held early in the calendar year.
• Any member of the society is welcome to attend meetings of the committee.

MEMBERSHIP
• Membership is open to both men and women.
• Membership is currently restricted to 50.
• Prospective members must be able to demonstrate a reasonable level of golfing   ability and etiquette.
• All new members must complete an application form, which will then be   considered by the committee for approval.

ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION AND GOLF DAY FEES
• The annual subscription is currently £25 and is reviewed each year at the Annual   General Meeting.
• The committee, dependent on the package negotiated with each golf club to be   visited, will decide fees for the golf days. The fees will be notified to members   well in advance of each golf day.

COMMUNICATIONS
• The principal information centre is The Bell Inn where all relevant details of the   Society’s activities are available. It is the responsibility of members to ensure   they keep informed of activities.
• A newsletter is circulated regularly to members by E-mail and contains results   and reports of golf days as well as information on forthcoming events and other   interesting information.

GOLF AND GENERAL PLAY
• The Society and its members agree to abide by the rules of golf laid down by the   Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews.
• The members must adhere to any additional rules in operation at the golf clubs   visited by the Society.
• The committee will adopt a system of handicapping deemed fair for all involved.
• A sub-committee of the main committee is responsible for administration of the   handicap system. The sub-committee meets after each golf day to review   handicaps as well as any other occasions, as required.
• A full record of all competitions and handicaps will be kept by the committee and   is available for all members to view.

GOLF DAYS
• The dates and venues will be decided, arranged by the committee and are   published early in the calendar year for the full year.
• As there is often a limitation on numbers imposed by the golf clubs to be visited, a   list will be published in The Bell Inn immediately after a golf day notifying members   of details of the next event. Members will be required to indicate whether they   wish to attend the next event ant pay a £10 deposit. The list will indicate when   final payment for the event is required.
• In addition to the information being available at The Bell the newsletter will notify   members of meeting arrangements and times for each event.
• Members are required to register at the appropriate golf club on arrival and to be   there at the notified time for the Chairman’s briefing.
• Members will be notified in advance via The Bell Inn and the newsletter of each   golf day’s dress requirements.
• As golf societies can be viewed with mixed feelings the Society aims to be   welcomed back to visiting clubs.

ANNUAL GOLF DAY
• The Annual Golf Day is held each year in late summer and comprises a 9-hole   competition in the morning and an 18- whole competition in the afternoon.
• To qualify to win any of the main trophies on the Annual Day members must have   participated in at least two other Society days in the 12 months between Annual   Days.
• Dress for the dinner and presentation on the Annual Day will be jacket and tie.

MATCHPLAY COMPETITIONS
• A single and pairs competition will be organised by the committee each year.
• There will be a small entry fee for the competitions that will be notified to   members by the committee.
• Once the draw has been made for the first and subsequent rounds of each   competition the committee will advise dates by which each round will have to be   completed.
• In the case of matches not completed by the dates stated, the committee shall   either award the match to one player or another or decide the outcome on the toss   of a coin.
• It will be the responsibility of the person whose name is drawn out first to contact   the opposition to arrange a mutually agreeable date on which to play the match
• In all rounds up to the semi-finals and finals the players drawn out first shall have   choice of venue. For the semi-finals and finals the players concerned will be left   to arrange a mutually agreeable venue. In the event they cannot agree then the committee will decide the venue.
• All handicaps for the competitions will be based on Society handicaps. Full   handicap difference will apply in the singles competition. Three-quarters handicap   difference will apply in the pair’s competition.
• The committee’s decision will be final in any matter relating to the matchplay   competitions
